Activity Information

Build activity into day and limit screen time. Encourage activities with friends and activities that engage the body, building gross motor skills, balance, coordination.

What to Work On From Home

  • Establish the student’s preferred activities.
  • Include the activities onto the student’s daily schedule. 
  • Use a visual picture/photographs schedule determine.
  • Limit time on any particular activity.
  • Ensure the student has choices of activities. 
  • Talk about choice activities at home. Everyone has a schedule and having those conversations will help the student to understand their schedule in one of several in the home. 

Educator Considerations

  • Establish the student’s preferred activities (consult with family)
  • Determine a variety of activities that are available at school.  Include the activities onto the student’s daily schedule. 
  • Use a visual picture/photographs schedule determine.
  • The school follows the similar structure as being used at home. 
  • Ensure the student has an set time table for activities/classes at school. Teach independence for following the time table 
  • Limit time on any particular activity
  • Ensure the student has an alarm clock/system so they can use for setting times at school for the start of activities. 
  • .Have conversations about time and schedules and activities in the school. 
  • Have the student keep a digital or physical calendar at school (following the lead of the home as to type of calendar they use)
