Activity Information

What to Work On From Home

  • Begin with a chore or task that the student already does and make it a regular/daily task.
  • When the student is able to indiependently do that task expand the task or add a similar simple task so they have two small tasks to complete.
  • Add a chart for student to check off the task each day as they complete it.
  • Continue to add tasks according to the student’s stamina and ability. For some students that may be one task or it may expand to 5+.

Educator Considerations

  • The school follows the same structure as being used at home. The tasks would be called ‘work’ at school not chores.
  • The student begins with one – determining regularity, consistency, success in completion.
  • The tasks may be part of a day, again considering the ability and skills of the student.
  • Track all work tasks to demonstrate completion.
  • It is important to use the data for use in writing the resume for work applications.
  • Important to begin with small work tasks and build stamina.
